Description
Core Gameplay
Colour Track adopts a railway theme. You must lay tracks (paths) connecting colour stations. Each colour station pair must be linked by a continuous track. Tracks cannot cross. Additionally, you have a limited number of ‘switches’ (points where a track can branch – but only one branch per colour). The goal is to connect all pairs using tracks and switches efficiently.
Level & Content Design
The game includes 255 puzzles, structured as 5 ‘railway networks’. Early puzzles have no switches; later puzzles introduce 1, 2, or 3 switches per colour. Board sizes vary from 6×6 to 12×12. Some puzzles have pre-existing track segments that cannot be altered. All puzzles hand-crafted. No auto-updates.
Visuals & Experience
A vintage railway map theme – sepia background, tracks as brown lines with cross-ties, stations as coloured circles. Switches are shown as small levers. Drawing tracks is click-and-drag with snap-to-grid. Sound effects include a soft train whistle (mutable). The interface is thematic but clear.
Key Features
A ‘switch counter’ shows used and remaining switches. Unlimited undo. A hint system suggests where a switch might help resolve a crossing. No timers or competitive elements. Offline only.
User Value
Colour Track develops resource allocation and network planning. The railway theme is engaging without being distracting. It appeals to players who enjoy logistics or transportation puzzles.
Usage Scenarios
Great for a leisurely afternoon, during a long-haul bus ride, or as a collaborative puzzle with a friend (taking turns).
